Why, hello there!
DéQiese Lyons is an illustrator, graphic designer, and multimedia artist who creates custom content for businesses and nonprofits. He spent his life dreaming of becoming creative, and through design, he planned to achieve those dreams. He was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska, and always admired the arts. The influence of his brother Jacquel's career as an illustrator, as well as comic artists Terry Dodson and Cliff Chiang, was a significant factor in his desire to follow in their footsteps. Throughout his life, he has always wanted to bring characters and stories to life through his art or comics. He is also inspired by artists and has a strong desire to share their stories. He decided to hone his craft by going to school for the arts and exploring his talents. He enrolled at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, graduating with a bachelor of science in Graphic Design and Media in 2022. His hard work and determination led him to develop proficiency in design fundamentals, illustration (both digital and traditional), UI/UX design, and coding, which he later integrated into mixed media.
During college, he proceeded to chase his dream in the arts and started his own business called Dmeltydesign. He has done multiple projects for clients including filming various music videos for artist Rob Lucci. In 2021 he co-founded a non-profit called “First Draft” with a mission to provide artistic development through community events and workshops. His volunteer work helped him implement the skills he learned and also feel accomplished by giving back to the community. He also participated in an internship program in 2022 with the nonprofit organization, Operation ARTS Foundation Inc., where he learned to refine his skills in social media marketing, graphic design, Portfolio Development, and web design. As a certified marketing specialist from Hubspot and Google, he enjoys designing eye-catching graphics with Adobe and Canva. He is driven by making an impact through nonprofits and businesses by promoting the arts. He hopes to build a recognizable artistic community in my home of Alaska, and he will pave the way forward for another to come along and be motivated to do the same.
